Merseyside-based Maghull Developments has been appointed by Liverpool John Moores University as development partner for a portfolio of buildings in the city's historic Hope Street quarter.
The portfolio comprises four buildings, including the Grade II-listed former Liverpool Art College building at 68 Hope Street, where John Lennon was educated.
The other properties are the Hahnemann Building, Josephine Butler House and the Grade II-listed 2 Blackburne Place.
The buildings will be refurbished by Maghull to provide a series of mixed-use developments.
The Hahnemann building is earmarked for residential, while Josephine Butler House will become a mixed-use scheme including offices.
The 55,000 sq ft Art College refurbishment will include 18 flats and further arts and theatre space.
Michael Hanlon, managing director of Maghull Developments, said: "The refurbishment and redevelopment of this suite of buildings will play a significant role in the ongoing renaissance of Liverpool, up to and beyond Capital of Culture.
"We intend to work in partnership with Liverpool JMU to deliver a first-class development solution for these significant buildings which are a part of Liverpool's heritage."
The Maghull Group has a mixed-use property portfolio valued at £100m and is undertaking schemes throughout the North West with a final investment value of £275m.
Its projects include the £40m refurbishment of Dale Street Mills at Piccadilly Basin in Manchester.
Other projects include a £75m mixed-use scheme on Lord Street in Southport town centre and the development of the UK's first PGA-affiliated Golf Academy at Formby Golf and Country Club, which Maghull owns.
The architect on the Hope Street scheme is AFL; Christopher Dee is the property adviser.
