One of the North West’s most entrepreneurial property development companies, Maghull Developments, has confirmed a two year sponsorship with the city’s leading sports fixture, the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament (12th-17th June 2007).
Maghull Developments will contribute £100k to the tournament over the next two years and will see the company appear alongside Liverpool Culture Company as one of the presenting sponsors.
Anders Borg from Liverpool International Tennis Tournament comments: “Sponsorship allows us to attract bigger players to the tournament and we expect 2007 to be a truly formidable year, particularly as Bjorn Borg will make his first UK appearance in more than ten years at our tournament. Maghull Developments sponsorship will continue to help us attract the best names to an already high calibre event.”
Mike Hanlon, managing director of Maghull Developments and presenting sponsor comments: “This event is proving to be one of the city’s greatest sport exports and we’re passionate about supporting activities which see Liverpool recognised by an international audience. “
The event, now in its sixth year, enjoys a global audience of over 20 million thanks to TV coverage from Sky and the American Tennis Channel. As a result, the tournament has elevated in status and is now Europe’s largest tennis exhibition tournament.
Councillor Warren Bradley, Leader of Liverpool City Council, said: ‘This year’s event looks set to provide another great week of first class tennis and its ability to attract the world class talent of Bjorn Borg is testament to how much the event has achieved over the last six years.
“Sponsorship is a key part of helping this tournament grow and demonstrates the growing confidence that people have in Liverpool as a place to achieve and prosper.”
The 2007 Liverpool International Tennis Tournament runs from 12th to 17th June. For further information about the event and ticket enquiries, telephone 0151 227 5940 or visit www.liverpooltennis.co.uk
