Crosby school children are being invited to grabs their pencils, pick up their paints and don their aprons for a chance to see their artwork brighten the streets of Crosby.

The competition entitled ‘My Crosby’ is open to children from Crosby’s primary and secondary schools and asks them to produce a painting or drawing which sums up their experiences and views of Crosby.

Launched by local property developer Maghull Developments, the winning designs from each category (five to seven, eight to 11 and 12 to 16 age groups) will be used on the new hoardings for Central Buildings on Liverpool Road. The overall winner will also take their class on a sporting trip to the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, from 13th-18th June 2006 at Calderstones Park.

Michael Hanlon, managing director Maghull Developments comments: “I was brought up in Crosby and still live here and know that the town centre has seen very little investment for many years. Our redevelopment proposals for Central Buildings will act as a catalyst for long over due renewal and we wanted local school children to help kick-start that process. I’m looking forward to seeing some creative, bright and bold hoardings on Liverpool Road whilst the construction work gets underway.”

Maghull Developments recently acquired Glenn Buildings and will lead the £7.5m redevelopment of Central Buildings into a mixed use retail, office and residential scheme.

The competition will be judged by Crosby Heralds’ editor Peter Harvey and Maghull Development’s managing director Michael Hanlon.
