2 Blackburne Place

Blackburne Place, Hope Street, Liverpool

This end terrace property, forming a key site in the Canning Street Conservation Area, comprises the original Grade II-listed Georgian extensions forming the elevation to Blackburne Place.

This property forms part of a partnership between Liverpool John Moores University and Maghull Group to regenerate a portfolio of four individual buildings situated within the Hope Street Conservation Area into a range of high quality mixed-use developments.

The Maghull Group purchased the building in a sale and leaseback agreement with LJMU in January 2006. It is still occupied by the University, who house part their Art teaching space within the property.

In March 2008 planning permission was granted by Liverpool City Council for a sympathetic refurbishment into 13 no. luxury 1 and 2 bed apartments. This includes the demolition of the unattractive existing extension, and erection of a new build four storey extension tot the rear.
